31 Mar 2015 Open a command window (Start menu -> Run -> Type "cmd" with out quotes and hit enter/click ok), now change directory to where the executable is located. Type "ipconfig /flushdns", then "ipconfig /registerdns" (with out the quotes) to flush out the DNS resolver cache and register the DNS source records, respectively.
After setting up our domain, replication appears to be working but some of the tests, eg "dcdiag /test:dns" report an error that a DNS record related to our second domain controller failed to look up properly: Alternate server name xxx.xxxx.xxxx Failing DNS host name: <guid>._msdcs.<mydomain.net>.

19 Sep 2008 To fix the SRV records, you can use one of the following methods described below: Import SRV records from C:\SystemRoot\Config\NetLogon.dns file. Restart NetLogon Service on the domain controller. Run DCDiag /Fix. Run NetDiag /Fix.
1. Restart the Netlogon service on one of the Domain Controllers. OR. 2. Run DCDiag /fix. OR. 3. Manually create the records from the netlogon.dns file from one of the Domain Controllers.
20 Sep 2012 Here the main problem: When I ping "hostname", it resolves, but when I ping " hostname.domainname.local" it doesn't resolve. I've run a DCDIAG /test:dns on our new 2008R2 Domain Controller and it fails with an error pointing to the old (removed) SBS2003 server. HOw do I fix this? I did a test using DCDIAG on the DNS and it is telling me the forwarder is wrong. I provided screen shot of current setup of DNS forwarders. What do I need to do where can I find instructions?
